Indianapolis, IN --- WPI diver Veronica Nikolaki (Athens, Greece) turned in her best career performance at the NCAA Championships on Thursday, finishing 14th in the 1-meter event at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.  The sophomore earned honorable mention All-American honors and became the first Crimson and Gray diver in program history to reach the consolation finals.

Nikolaki totaled 383.50 points over her first 11 attempts and sat in 15th after the preliminaries. She dove well in the consolation finals and finished with a score of 388.70 to bump up to 14th.  A year ago as a freshman Nikolaki amassed 368.85 en route to placing 22nd on the 1-meter board.

Renee Jordan (Anchorage AK) of Macalester won the event, totaling 468.90 points.

Nikolaki will be back at it Saturday, when she competes in the 3-meter event beginning at 1pm.
