Worcester, MA --- WPI Women's Swimming and Diving had 15 top 10 finishes on Saturday at the New England Invitational, a non-scoring meet hosted at WPI.
Veronica Nikolaki (Athens, Greece) had the team's top two performances, finishing second in the 1-meter dive (266.00 points) and 3-meter dive (252.90).
WPI also had a trio of third-place performances as Jenny Day (Chelmsford, MA) came in third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:44.09), while Emily Matsco (Windham, NH) finished the same in the 500-yard freestyle (5:29.69).
Additionally, the 200-yard medley relay team of Marissa Patterson (Hampton, NH), Zoe Eggleston (Newtown, CT), Allie Connor (Baldwinsville, NY) and Emily Martin (Penfield, NY) won a third place of their own with a time of 1:54.69.
The sophomore Connor also finished fifth in the 50-yard butterfly in 27.54, as did Eggleston, a junior, in the 50-yard breaststroke, tapping the wall in 32.52.
A pair of relay teams also finished fifth to give the Engineers nine top five performances. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Martin, Matsco, Day and Eva Childers (Henniker, NH) posted a time of 1:42.05, while the same foursome also came in fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay, recording a time of 3:46.26.
Day came in seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.95), while Childers finished in the same spot in the 100-yard butterfly, coming in at 1:01.43.
Thea Reymann (Toms River, NJ) was seventh in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:55.98), while WPI had another seventh-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (4:12.38), with a team of Day, Eggleston, Connor and Martin.
Hayley Poskus (Middleboro, MA) finished sixth in the 1-meter dive (192.95) and rounded out the day by taking seventh in the 3-meter dive (180.55).
WPI is back in the pool Sunday, hosting a meet against Babson, Brandeis and Smith before heading on the road for the first time at Providence on Nov. 13.
