Day collected three individual victories in less than 24 hours, and was part of an impressive 400-yard medley relay team that kicked off the Engineers weekend with a dominant performance as a foursome and as individuals on Friday night en route to defeating Babson, Smith and Brandeis. In addition to anchoring the relay which turned in a time of 4:11.28, Day secured the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.44) and touched the wall first in the 400-yard IM (4:50.20). On Saturday as the team halted Simmons 15 dual meet winning-streak Day won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:12.97.
The 400-yard medley relay set the tone as the WPI women's swimming & diving team had the best performance in every swimming event in a sweep of Babson, Smith and Brandeis Friday night. The foursome of sophomore Sydney Seo (North Andover, MA), sophomore Emma Edwardson (Cary, NC), freshman Audrey Berner (San Jose, CA) and Day won in a time of 4:11.28.
In addition to Day's individual efforts, Seo took the 100- and 200-yard backstrokes with times of 1:02.72 and 2:15.35, and Edwardson swept the 100- and 200- yard breaststrokes in 1:11.86 and 2:36.25. Berner, who was also on the fastest 200-yard freestyle relay, earned gold in the 50-yard freestyle (25.69) and later had the best time of 1:01.86 in the 100-yard butterfly.
WPI travels to Southern Connecticut State University Saturday and Coast Guard on Sunday.
