WORCESTER – Led by Jack Bauer (Cumberland, RI) and Jenny Day (Chelmsford, MA), five members of the WPI swimming & diving program secured College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) All-America Team honors for their work in the pool and in the classroom. Additionally, both programs earned the CSCAA Scholar All-America Award for their respective combined GPAs.
Bauer, a 2017-18 honorable mention, and Day, a three-time honorable mention, each collected their third CSCAA Scholar All-America honor. Divers Randy Melanson (Attleboro, MA) and Hayley Poskus (Middleboro, MA) picked up their second consecutive honorable mention nods while swimmer Erick Burgwardt (Honeoye Falls, NY) claimed his first.
As a team, the women tied Calvin and Wash U for 53rd of 174 teams with a 3.51. The men, meanwhile, saw their 3.38 GPA place third in the NEWMAC and tie Johns Hopkins, Luther and Williams for 31st of 117 teams.
The individuals achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier while the teams achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.
