Pawlak was dominant with four individual victories and was part of three relay triumphs at the third annual Tech Sprints. The freshman touched the wall first in the 25-yard freestyle (11.30), 25-yard butterfly (12.40), 50-yard freestyle (24.81) and 100-yard freestyle (46.29). Her 24.74 in the 50 free trials ranked third in the NEWMAC last week. The 100-yard medley relay (46.29) was the top time in the conference last week while the 200-yard medley relay (1:52.37) ranked second. The 100-yard freestyle squad, meanwhile, collaborated for a winning 46.29.
It was the second weekly accolade for a newcomer on the women's team this season as Molly Sykes (Falmouth, MA) was recognized in early November. MIT's 200-yard medley quartet and sophomore Deborah Wen (Honolulu, Hawaii) were the relay and diver of the week, respectively.
WPI hosts the 2019 NEWMAC Swimming & Diving Championships later this month. The four-day extravaganza begins on Thursday the 21st at 4pm.
