WORCESTER --- Sophomore Jenn Brownell (Spring, TX) finished first in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking in at 2 minutes, 24.31 seconds, posted a personal best in the 25-yard backstroke with a second-place finish of 13.80 seconds, and finished second in the 50-yard backstroke in 28.76 seconds to lead the WPI women's swimming and diving team to a second-place finish in the Tech Sprints Saturday.
Bates finished first with 1,535 points, WPI second (1,226.5 points), Wheaton third 809.5, Roger Williams fourth (581.5), and Trinity fifth (474.5).
Senior Olivia Hanson (Anchorage, AK) swam a personal best 2:33.47 to capture first place in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Sophomore Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA) placed second in the 25-yard freestyle (11.48) and 25-yard butterfly (12.47), and junior Julia Noel (Beverly, MA) notched second in the 3-meter diving (355.75).
Senior Jillian Clemente (Killingworth, CT) posted personal bests in both the 50-yard butterfly (27.34) and the 100-yard butterfly (58.81), finishing third in each event. Clemente also helped WPI place second in the 100-yard freestyle relay, clocking in at 24.03 during her leg.
WPI will next hit the pool for the NEWMAC Championships starting February 20 at MIT.
