Williams Selected for NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships

Indianapolis, IN --- WPI sophomore Sid Williams (Fairfax, VA) earned an invitation to compete in the 2020 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by the ODAC and Greensboro Sports Commission March 18-21 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.

Williams is the 13th seed in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.86 achieved this past weekend at the NEWMAC Championships.  The sophomore will participate in the 50 and 100 freestyles by virtue of achieving B cuts in the events.  Williams is currently seeded 29th in the 50 free (20.61) and 37th in the 100 free (45.52).

Williams' NCAA Championship experience begins on Wednesday the 18th with the 50-yard freestyle.  After an off day Thursday, he'll take part in the 100-yard backstroke on Friday and conclude the meet by taking part in the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday.

The selection of Williams gives WPI Swimming and Diving a seventh straight year of a student-athlete(s) earning a spot in the NCAA Championships under head coach Paul Bennett
