Title: Assistant Coach
Year: First Season
Previous College: UMass Dartmouth '13

Morgan Cooper joins the WPI Swimming & Diving Staff as the program's first full-time assistant coach in 2017-18.

No stranger to the NEWMAC or the Sports & Recreation Center Pool, Cooper comes to WPI from Smith College where she was on Kim Bierwert's staff and earned her master's in Exercise Science & Sports Studies. She also swam against the Engineers in the Sports & Recreation Center as a member of the UMass Dartmouth swimming & diving program her senior year.

While in Northampton, Cooper was involved with recruiting, running home meets and monitoring weight training sessions, as well as coaching at Smith's Competitive Swimming Stroke Technique Clinic. This spring, Cooper was named as a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Jean Freeman Scholarship recipient. The honor is given annually to six assistant coaches whose exceptional contributions have brought recognition to their college or university, and whose leadership, integrity, honesty, competitive attitude and personal graciousness epitomizes those characteristics reflected by Jean Freeman.

In addition to the collegiate level, the psychology major has coached with a number of programs including as an assistant at Bedford High School and with Bluefish Swim Club.

Cooper, who has attained USA Swimming Coach and U.S. Masters Coaching Level 2 certifications, is still on the Corsair record board as a member of the 400 and 800-yard relays and individually in the 50-yard breaststroke. She also remains in the outdoor track & field record book as part of the 4x200-meter relay and sprint medley relay.
