Brunswick, ME --- Krista Baker (Medway, MA) broke her own record in the weight throw and also won the shot put to lead WPI to a third place finish at Bowdoin in a women's indoor track and field meet. Bowdoin won with 207.75 points, while Middlebury was second with 139 and WPI scored 94.50.
Baker launched the weight for 51-0 to take the event and best her own record of 48-0 and in the process qualify for the All-New England Championships. She also has qualified for the ECAC Championships with a first place effort in shot put with a 39-1.75.
Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.30, and the 400-meter dash (1:02.26). Both times qualify for the New England Division III Championships. Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) also qualified as she placed second in the 3000-meter run (10:50.01) and third in the mile run (5:24.19).
After posting a 9.25 in the pole vault Jacqui Foti (Hopkinton, NH) is eligible to compete in the New England Division III Championships and rounds out the day's qualifiers.
In the 800-meter run Caitlin Rush (Nashua, NH) came in second (2:37.96) as Stacey Rauen (San Gabriel, CA) recorded a 3:23.76 for fifth place in the 1000-meter run. Kristine Zeeb (Nashua, NH) raced to a sixth place showing in the 600-meter run (1:49.04).
Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) ran a 9.16 for fifth place in the 55-meter hurdles and was fourth in the high jump with a 4-9.75. Joan Keyes (Plymouth, MA) posted a fourth place time of 7.86 in the 55-meter dash, while Sarah Cook (New Paltz, NY) was sixth in the triple jump (32-10.25) and eighth in the long jump (14-6).
Women's Indoor Track and Field ventures to Middletown, CT to compete in the Wesleyan Invitational at 10am on Saturday.
