Women's Indoor Track and Field Wins Three Events at Wesleyan Invitational

Middletown, CT --- Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) qualified for championship meets in a pair of events as WPI women's indoor track and field competed in the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday. In all, five Engineers met championship standards or improved upon prior qualifying efforts on the day.

The sophomore ran a 7.64 in the 55-meter dash to be eligible for the New England Division III Championships, while also qualifying for the ECAC Championships in the 200-meter dash (26.76).

In the weight throw, Krista Baker (Medway, MA) won the event and qualifies for the ECAC Championships, while Funmi Adebayo (Medfield, MA) improved upon her New England Division III qualifying mark with a 41-10 and took third place. Baker also won the shot put with a 39-5.25 to best her original ECAC Championship effort.

Emily Hartzell (Brunswick, ME) and Jacqui Foti (Hopkinton MA) are eligible for the New England Division III Championships as the sophomores cleared 3.05 meters and 2.90 meters, respectively.  Hartzell won the pole vault event, while Foti tied for third.

Other top performers on the track were Kristine Zeeb (Nashua, NH) in the 400-meter dash (6th - 1:04.23), Caroline Allen (Norton, MA) in the 600-meter run (14th - 1:51.06), Emily Dudley (Woburn, MA) in the 1,000-meter run (10th - 3:30.00), and Stacey Rauen (San Gabriel, CA) in the mile run (12th - 5:43.44).

In field events, Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) placed second in the high jump (5-0.25) and sixth in the long jump (15-2.75), while Sarah Cook (New Paltz, NY) was fourth in the triple jump (33-3.75).

The Women's Indoor Track and Field team heads to Boston University on Friday, January 28th for a 3pm start.
