Medford, MA --- Sophomore Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) placed second in the Tufts Pentathlon on Friday evening. The sophomore tallied 2,739 points, a high enough total to qualify for the Division III New England Championships later this month. On the men's side, Mike Thyden (Sutton, MA) and Wesley DeChristofaro (Woonsocket, RI) finished sixth and seventh respectively.
Davis' best performance in the five-event pentathlon came in the 60 meter hurdles. Her time of 9.43 seconds was the best of the eight competitors and earned her 822 points. She also enjoyed success in the high jump (5-0.25) and the 800 meters (2:43.85).
In the men's pentathlon, Thyden notched a total of 2,894 points, including 711 in the 1000 meters (2:55.33) and 664 in the 60 meter hurdles (9.38). DeChristofaro posted 2,815 total points, including 764 in the 60 meter hurdles (8.92), where he posted the second best time in the eight-person field.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday, when they compete in Tartan Invitational hosted by Smith. The men are in search of their second straight team title and fourth in fifth years.
