Boston, MA --- Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) broke her own school record and qualified provisionally for the NCAA Championships as the WPI women's indoor track and field team competed in the Boston University Valentine Invitational on Friday. The meet features numerous teams from all three NCAA Divisions.
Richard bested her WPI record in the 400-meter dash with a 14th place 58.02 in the qualifying effort. The sophomore's time is currently sixth overall in Division III. Amira Yusif (Leominster, MA) sprinted to a 1:01.87, while Caroline Allen (Norton, MA) posted a 1:02.20 as they finished 68th and 71st.
In the 200-meter dash, Richard came in 43rd with a 26.37, as Kristine Zeeb (Nashua, NH) finished 42nd with a 1:23.32 in the 500-meter dash for entry in the New England Division III Championships.
Emily Dudley (Woburn, MA) placed 58th in the 1,000-meter run with 3:22.71 and Stacey Rauen (San Gabirel, CA) was 111th (5:31.68) in the mile.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Allen, Yusif, Zeeb and Richard came in 24th with a time of 4:07.20.
Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) recorded a 10:35.40 in the 3,000-meter run.
WPI heads to Medford tomorrow morning – Saturday – to participate in the Tufts Invitational.
