Richard Wins Women's Track and Field's First Indoor D3 New England Championship

Cambridge, MA --- Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) became WPI's first-ever New England Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field champion Saturday afternoon when she captured the 400-meter dash at MIT with a time of 57.64.  

Richard and graduate student Krista Baker (Medfield, MA) both earned multiple All-New England individual honors while Richard also anchored the fifth place 4x400 relay team.  

As a team, the Engineers amassed their second highest point total (31) and placing (10th) in the 22-year history of the event.  Williams took home the team title by edging host MIT by just four points (141-137).
Baker earned her accolades by finishing third in the weight throw (52-4.75) and sixth in the shot put (39-6.75). Funmi Adebayo (Medfield, MA) was 13th in the weight throw with a heave of 42-0.50 while Katye Milligan (Skowhegan, ME) finished 15th with a toss of 41-10.

Richard came back to claim her second All-New England honor with a fourth place time in the 200 meters (26.09).  She anchored the 4x400 relay that featured Caroline Allen (Norton, MA), Amira Yusif (Leominster, MA), Kristine Zeeb (Nashua, NH).  The foursome turned in a time of 4:10.24 to take home fifth.  Allen (62.67) and Yusif (63.36) also recorded 18th and 20th place finishes respectively in the 400 meters while Zeeb placed 25th in the 600 meters with a time of 1:47.14.
 
Friday night Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) earned All-New England honors as she placed sixth in the pentathlon. The sophomore scored 2866 points to best the WPI record she previously set this season.  On Saturday, the sophomore sported a ninth place showing in the high jump (5-0.25) and a 10th place finish in the 55-meter hurdles (8.80). 

Sophomore Jacqui Foti (Hopkinton, NH) finished 16th in the pole vault with a height of 9-6.25 while classmate Emily Hartzell (Brunswick, ME) cleared 9-0.25 to place 25th.  Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) crossed the finish line in 10:47.07 to take 17th place in the 3000 meters and Joan Keyes (Plymouth, MA) turned in a time of 7.83 to finish 22nd in the 55-meter dash.   

Women's Track and Field is back in action next weekend with select athletes participating in the All-New England All-Divisions Meet at BU.
