New Haven, CT --- Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) registered a third place showing in the 400 meters to lead the WPI Track and Field teams Saturday at the All-New England All-Divisions Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut. The sophomore's six points helped the Crimson and Gray women notch a 24th place finish in the meet that featured Division I, II and III athletes from throughout New England.
Richard turned in her second straight sub 57 second performance as she clocked a 56.95 time Saturday. In a heat Friday, she qualified provisionally for the NCAA Division III Championships with a 56.90.
Junior Emily Pearce (Avon, CT) tallied an 11th place showing in the pole vault with a mark of 10-11.75 while freshman Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) finished 14th in the high jump with a height of 5-1.
Wesley DeChristofaro (Woonsocket, RI) was WPI's lone men's competitor on Saturday, placing 19th in the triple jump with a distance of 41-8.50. The Engineers finished 30th on the men's side powered by Jeff Baker's fifth place showing Friday in the javelin.
WPI continues the championship portion of its schedule this Thursday and Friday with select athletes participating in the ECAC Championships at Moravian (PA).
