Medford, MA --- Junior Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) won the high jump and placed third in the 60-meter hurdles to help push the WPI Women's Track and Field team to a fourth place showing at the 19-team Tufts Stampede Meet held on Friday and Saturday.
Davis paced an outstanding Engineer effort in the high jump as she took the title on fewer misses with an identical 5-1.75 height as teammate Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL). Freshman Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) was in a tie for third place at 4-11.75. Davis clocked a time of 9.35 to take home third in the 60-meter hurdles while Pumphrey was 14th in a time 10.18.
The Crimson and Gray had two additional events that boasted a trio of top 10 finishes. Emily Pearce (Avon, CT) was second in the pole vault with a height of 10-6 while Emily Hartzell (Brunswick, ME) finished fourth (9-6.25) and Jacqui Foti (Hopkinton, NH) sixth (9-0.25). Pearce also claimed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 15-6.75. Amira Yusif (Leominster, MA) turned in a fourth place time of 27.58 in 200 meters while Maya Rhinehart (East Longmeadow, MA) (27.72) and Caroline Allen (Norton, MA) (28.00) collected fifth and ninth place showings respectively.
Junior thrower Kimi Joback (Bedford, NH) had a productive day, finishing seventh in the weight throw (44-1.25) and ninth in the shot put (34.6.75). Sarah Cook (New Paltz, NY) rounded out a stellar field event showing with a leap of 32.2.75 to register 11th place in the triple jump.
The 4x400 relay team of Jill Perreira (Lancaster, MA), Aubrie Vannasse (Stow, MA), Allen and Rhinehart boasted a fifth-place time of 4:20.94 while Perreira added in a 15th place performance in the 600 meters (1:48.81). Distance runners Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) and Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO) were eight (11:09.44) and 11th (11:23.99) respectively in the 3000 meters while Emily Dudley (Woburn, MA) placed 15th in the 1000 (3:23.15).
WPI returns to the track on Friday competing at Boston University.
