Balanced Effort Propels Women's Track and Field to Second Place in Engineers Cup

Troy, NY --- Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) broke her own school record with a leap of 5 feet, 7.75 inches in the high jump as the WPI Women's Track and Field team finished in second place at the Engineers Cup Invitational hosted by RPI on Saturday. The Crimson and Gray netted a total of 110 points on the day. 

Eagle's mark easily won her the event. Kimi Joback (Bedford, NH) took first in the shot put with a mark of 34-6.75. Joback was also second in the hammer throw with a distance of 151-0, and third in the javelin throw with a distance of 112-2. The 4x400 relay team, with Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA), Caroline Allen (Norton, MA), Maya Rhinehart (Springfield, MA) and Amira Yusif (Leominster, MA) came in first with a time of 4:06.69. 

Richard was also second in the 400 meter dash (59.31). Kristine Zeeb (Nashua, NH) clocked a 1:09.44 in the 400 meter hurdles, good for second place. Emily Pearce (Avon, CT) was also second in the pole vault with a mark of 10-6 as was Andrea Caprio's (Tewksbury, MA) 128-8 in the javelin throw. 

Coming in third place were Rhinehart in the 400 meter dash (1:02.84), Pearce in the long jump (16-11.5), Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) in the 5000 meter run (18:46.51), Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) in the 100 meters (17.22) and Julia Lamontagne (South Hadley, MA) in the 400 meter hurdles (1:11.05). 

The Crimson and Gray are back in action next Saturday as the bulk of the team competes against Coast Guard and Springfield in a tri-meet at Springfield. Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) will compete at the Tufts Heptathlon on Saturday and Sunday.
