Worcester, MA --- WPI Men's Track and Field standout Mike Thyden (Douglas, MA) placed third among all collegiate entries at the Tufts Decathlon this weekend. The senior amassed 5,515 total points in a competition that features nine athletes.
Thyden's best event proved to be the 400 meters where he racked up 670 points by running a 53.28. He also performed well in the 100 meters (11.94 - 663 points), the long jump (20-0.25 - 608 points) and the high jump (5-8.50 - 577 points ) on Saturday and the javelin (160-2 - 571 points) and 1500 meters (4:57.97 - 571 points ) on Sunday.
A familiar face placed second overall in the event. Ben Roy '10 totaled 5,857 points as an unattached competitor.
WPI Track and Field returns to action Saturday, at the Eric Loeshner Memorial Meet hosted by Fitchburg State.
