Fitchburg, MA --- Wesley DeChristofaro (Woonsocket, RI), Tim Forrest (Madison, CT) and Kyle Morette (Leominster, MA) led the WPI men's track and field team to victory on Saturday at the Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet at Fitchburg State. The trio won a combined four events as the Engineers came in first in a field of 16 teams.
DeChristofaro easily won the long jump (22-6.5) and triple jump (43-5.75) events while Forrest was first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.62). Morette's 14-9 in the pole vault was 19.5 inches better than the second-place finisher.
Several Engineers placed second on the day, including Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA) in the 5000 meter run (15:57.01), Keegan Westwater (North Andover, MA) in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:10.78), Charles Plummer (Westboro, MA) in the pole vault (13-1.5), Jameel Galloway (Randolph, MA) in the long jump (20-10), Ben Altshuler (Ellenville, NY) in the triple jump (41-10.5) and Gary Feldman Jr. (Ellington, CT) in the hammer throw (164-0).
Third-place finishers included Jay Giambarresi (Amesbury, MA) in the 110 meter hurdles (16.38) and Forrest in the triple jump (41-2.25).
Joey Collins (Standish, ME) in the 200 meter dash (22.91), Josh Brodin (Mansfield, MA) in the 5000 meter run (16:07.39), Chris Farren (Plaistow, NH) in the hammer throw (156-0) all finished in fourth place in their respective events.
The team will compete in the NEWMAC Championships at Smith in one week on Saturday, April 28th.
