Joback, Pearce, Eagle and Caprio Win for Women's Track and Field at Fitchburg State

Fitchburg, MA --- Kimi Joback (Bedford, NH) had another outstanding performance in winning the hammer throw as the WPI women's track and field team competed at the Eric Loeschner Memorial Meet at Fitchburg State on Saturday. Joback came in first in the hammer throw with a distance of 155-11, helping the Engineers to a third place finish. Joback's mark was a full 28 feet better than her closest competitor. 

Emily Pearce (Avon, CT) was another winner for the Crimson and Gray, winning the pole vault with a mark of 11-8. Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL)'s 5-3.75 in the high jump event was also best on the day. The Engineers dominated the women's javelin event, with first place taken by Andrea Caprio (Tewksbury, MA) and her 129-10 throw, while Joback's 128-5 put her in second. 

Other second-place finishers included Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) in the 1500-meter run (4:56.21) and Emily Hartzell (Brunswick, ME) in the pole vault (9-6.25). 

In fourth place were Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO) in the 5000 meter run (20:59.16), Kristine Zeeb (Nashua, NH) in the 400-meter hurdles (1:08.18), Jacqui Forti (Hopkinton, NH) in the pole vault (9-0.25) and Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) in the high jump (5-2.25). 

The team will compete in the NEWMAC Championships at Smith in one week on Saturday, April 28th.
