Cambridge, MA --- The WPI Men's Track and Field finished tenth this past weekend at the 2012 Division III New England Championships hosted by MIT. Leading the charge for the Crimson and Gray were Wesley DeChristofaro (Woonsocket, RI) and Jameel Galloway (Randolph, MA). DeChristofaro was second in the long jump (22-1), seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (16.36) and eighth in the triple jump (44-0). Galloway's 6-6 in the high jump was third-best on the day.
Other key contributors for the Engineers were Tim Forrest (Madison, CT), who finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.27), Tristan Richardson (Attleboro Falls, MA) with a 6-4 in the high jump to place him in fifth, and Mike Thyden (Sutton, MA), who finished with 5622 points in the decathlon, good for sixth place.
Gary Feldman Jr. (Ellington, CT) finished eighth in the hammer throw (158-7) and twelfth in the discus throw (130-1). Kyle Morette (Leominster, MA) had an eighth place showing in the pole vault (13-11.25), while Joey Collins (Standish, ME) was ninth in the 400 meter dash (50.03) and fifteenth in the 200 meter dash (22.70). Ben Altshuler (Ellenville, NY) finished ninth in the long jump (20-8.0). The 4x100 meter relay team, with Nick Aleles (Tappan, NY), Morette, Collins, Ditton Kawalya (Bugolobi, Uganda) came in eleventh place (44.03).
Chris Farren (Plaistow, NH) posted a 154-5 in the hammer throw, good for twelfth, while Jay Giambarresi (Amesbury, MA) had a 58.25 in the 400-meter hurdles, good for fifteenth. Robert Hollinger (Averill Park, MA) finished fifteenth in the 10000-meter run (32:24.11).
Men's Track and Field will return to MIT next weekend as qualified athletes will compete in the All-New England Championships on Friday and Saturday.
