Troy, NY --- Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA), Emily Pearce (Avon, CT) and Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) lead WPI at the 2012 ECAC Women's Track and Field Championship hosted by RPI on Thursday and Friday. With the three All-ECAC performances, WPI totaled 13.5 points to come in 21st out of 55 scoring teams.
Richard finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 56.71, while Pearce set a school record in the pole vault with a distance of 12 feet, 1.5 inches, coming in fourth in the meet and tying her for 14th in the NCAA. The senior also notched a 14th place showing in the long jump (16-5.50). Eagle was sixth in the high jump (5-4) while Adriana Davis (Chelmsford, MA) and Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) were tied for 12th (5-0).
Kimi Joback's (Bedford, NH) throw of 150-9 in the hammer throw was 12th-best on the day, while her 121-11 in the javelin ranked 16th. Andrea Caprio (Tewksbury, MA) was 15th place in the javelin (123-8) and Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) clocked an 18:40.48 in the 5000 meters, placing her in 27th place.
Richard, Pearce and Eagle, along with junior steeplechaser Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME), are expected to be strongly in the mix to receive spots in next weekend's NCAA Championships hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Southern California. Selections will be announced late this weekend.
