Joback, Pumphrey and Foti Victorious for Women's Track and Field at Smith

Northampton, MA --- Kimi Joback (Bedford, NH) posted a winning distance of 45-2.50 in the weight throw to help WPI to a third place finish at the Benyon Invitational hosted by Smith College on Saturday afternoon. WPI finished with 116 points in a field of nine teams. Keene State won the meet with 176 points while Division II Merrimack was second with 158.5.

Joining Joback in the winner's circle were Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) who topped the high jump with a mark of 5-3.75, and Jacqui Foti (Hopkinton, NH) who cleared 9-0.25 in the pole vault to take first.

Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) had a second place finish in the 3000 meter run, clocking a time of 11:35.16. Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) finished the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:13.48, also good for second.

Coming in third on the day were Maya Rhinehart (Springfield, MA) in the 400 meter dash (1:03.71), Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) in the mile run (5:32.79) and Liz Pellegrini (Worcester, MA) in the 60 meter hurdles (9.70).

Tevenan, and Hewey teamed with Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) and Caitlin Rush (Nashua, NH) to win the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:21.26.

WPI Women's Track and Field is back in action next Saturday at the Springfield Invitational.
