Lazaro and Caprio Notch School Records as Women's Track and Field Takes Top Spot

New London, CT --- Kelsie Lazaro (Somerset, MA) and Andrea Caprio (Tewksbury,MA) set school records to help WPI earn 108 points and a first place finish in the Coast Guard Academy Invitational on Saturday.  Lazaro led the pack in the 400-meter hurdles finishing 1:05.33, while Caprio heaved the javelin 41.11m for the top spot.

Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) ran 15.04 in the 100-meter hurdles and earned first, while Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) leaped 5-5 in the high jump for a first place finish.  Pumphrey also tallied a third place finish in the 100-hurdles at 15.87. 

Jenny Wallace (Holden, MA) finished right behind teammate Caprio in the javelin tossing for 37.42m.  Vickey Hewey (Sanford, ME) finished second in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:54.15.  Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) soared 5-1 in the high jump for a third place finish. 
 
Other notable performances by the Crimson and Gray include Jacqui Foti's (Hopkinton, NH) fourth place spot in the pole vault at 8-6.25, and a 19:45.03 fifth place finish by Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) in the 5000.  Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) finished fifth in the 100-meter and sixth in the 200-meter, while Liz Pellegrini (Worcester, MA) recorded a fifth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and a sixth spot in the 400-meter hurdles. 
 
Women's Track and Field is back in action on Saturday, April 6th at the Engineers Cup at MIT.
