Cambridge, MA --- Wesley DeChristofaro and Nate Martel picked up All-New England honors Saturday as WPI Men's Track and Field competed at the Division III Championships at MIT. DeChristofaro finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 21-5.25 while Martel pocketed a eighth showing the weigh throw with a heave of 48.9.50.
Tim Forrest (Madison, CT) came just shy of an All-New England finish in the 60 meter hurdles, turning in a ninth place performance of 8.64.
The 1000 meters also saw a ninth place finish from Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA) with a time of 2:38.98, finishing just outside of All-New England. Teammate Lucas Roy (Bourne, MA) posted a 15th place time of 2:45.66.
Nicholas Aleles (Tappen, NY) sprinted to a ninth place finish (23.54) in the 200 meters while teammate Jacob Mercier (Litchfield, NH) crossed the line in 12th (24.00). The Crimson and Gray was well represented in the 800 and the 60 meters with Thomas Kostelak (Bernardsville, NJ) and Nathan Varney (East Longmeadow, MA) placing 15th (1:59.76) and 17th (2:02.10) respectively in the 800 and Hugh Whelan (Madison, CT) 22nd (7.23), Julian Dano (Merrimack, NH) 26th (7.26) and Mercier 32nd (7.32) in the 60.
In the relay world, the 4x800 comprised of Nikos Kalaitzidis(Agawam, MA), Scott, David Goodrich (North Haven, CT) and Varney was 11th (8:08.91) while the 4x400 quartet of Ryan Dennis (Milford, CT), Aleles, Daniel Ruiz-Cadalso (Guaynambo, Puerto Rico) and Eric Eoff (Rexford, NY) reached the finish line in 13th place (3:32.54).
The Crimson and Gray return to action next weekend at the All-New England All-Divisions Championships at BU.
