Tevenan, Roy & Relays Reach Podium for Track & Field at ECAC Championships

Boston, MA --- Sophomores Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) and Lucas Roy (Bourne, MA) and a relay team for each gender drew All-ECAC honors as the WPI Track and Field programs competed this weekend in the two-day ECAC Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center.  Both teams accrued eight points as the women finished 37th and the men 38th. 

Tevenan crossed the line third in the 1000 meters in a time of 3:03.05 while Roy placed seventh in the men's event with a time of 2:32.11.  The men's 4x800 meter relay squad of Roy, Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA), Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) and Thomas Kostelak (Bernardsville, NJ) grabbed a bronze medal by clocking a 7:55.01 and the women's 4x400 relay quartet of Anne Harris (Hamburg, NY), Maya Rhinehart (Springfield, MA), Liz Pellegrini (Worcester, MA) and Alex Price (Franklin, MA) won their heat and placed seventh overall with a school record time of 3:57.61. 

Moran narrowly missed the podium in the mile.  The junior finished ninth, posting a time of 4:21.92 while Scott ran a personal best 4:23.18 to place 13th in the event. 

The women nearly had another relay record as Harris, Lauren Richard (Plymouth, MA), Pellegrini and Rhinehart teamed up to finish 17th in the 4x200 meter relay in a time of 1:46.46.  Rhinehart led three strong showing sin the 200 meters with a 15th place time of 26.08 while Pellegrini and Harris were 23rd (26.29) and 33rd (26.48) respectively.  Harris (31st) and Rhinehart (33rd) turned in identical times of 8.07 in the 60 meters.    

On the men's side Jameel Galloway (Randolph, MA) was 15th in the high jump, soaring 6-4.  Senior Tim Forrest (Madison, CT) concluded his indoor career with a time of 8.74 in the 60 meter hurdles while Joey Collins (Standish, ME) was 25th (51.20) in the 400 meters and Nicholas Aleles (Tappen, NY) 28th (51.35).

Up next is the Indoor Division III National Championships next weekend at Nebraska Wesleyan.  Graduate student Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) is slated to compete Saturday in the high jump. The event is scheduled for 3:30pm eastern time.  The rest of the Engineers begin the outdoor season on Saturday, March 29th at the Coast Guard Invitational.
