Galloway and Relays Strong for Men's Track and Field at All-New Englands

Westfield, MA – High jumper Jameel Galloway (Randolph, MA) led the WPI men's track & field team this weekend, clearing 6-4.75 to take 10th place at the All New-England All-Divisions championship meet, hosted out at Westfield State. 

Other top runners for WPI included Tim Forrest (Madison, CT) in the 110-meter hurdles (14th, 15.07), Hugh Whelan (Madison, CT) in the 100-meter dash (15th, 11.20) and Hunter Putzke (Waterloo, WI) in the 10,000-meter (15th, 33:02.13). 

Two relays had notable showings – in the 4x100 relay Edmund Eduah (Accra, Ghana), Jacob Mercier (Litchfield, NH), Whelan and Austin Holliday (Danville, CA) took 15th (42.90), and in the 4x400 relay Holliday, Ryan Dennis (Milford, CT), Nicholas Aleles (Tappan, NY) and Daniel Ruiz-Cadalso (Guaynambo, Puerto Rico) finished 16th, but also set a WPI record with a time of 3:19.13. 

Ruiz-Cadalso also competed in the 400-meter hurdles, claiming 16th place there as well with a time of 55.79. 

Rounding out the Engineers' top 20 finishers were Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (18th, 9:57.51), Eduah in the triple jump (19th, 38.9.50) and Matt Butler (Lincoln, RI) in the hammer throw (20th, 149.4). 

There are two meets remaining in the Division III outdoor track season with the ECAC Championships taking place next Friday and Saturday at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY) and the NCAA Division III Championships the following weekend from May 23-24 at Ohio Wesleyan located in Delaware, Ohio.
