Northampton, MA --- Junior Ryan Dennis (Milford, CT) and sophomore Warren Staver (Centreville, MD) both posted individual victories and teamed up with sophomore Andrew Kelly (Medford, MA) and freshman Thomas Mackintosh (Ellington, CT) to win the 4x400 relay as WPI men's indoor track and field team captured the Beynon Invitational hosted by Smith on Saturday.  It marks the third consecutive time the Engineers won the title (the 2015 meet was cancelled) and the seventh time in eight appearances.

The Engineers totaled 171.5 points to take the 12-team meet. Amherst was second (136) as Middlebury was third (119.5). Division II Assumption came home fourth (119.5) and Colby-Sawyer rounded out the top five with 45 points.

"We were hoping to see improvement this weekend compared to last and, for the most part, I believe that's what we got," stated head coach Brian Chabot. "To do it in a winning effort is also important for the development of the team."

Dennis led the way in the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.73 and was followed by Mackintosh in fifth (52.95). Staver, meanwhile, posted a 1:58.90 to claim the 800-meter run. Staver, Kelly, Mackintosh and Dennis later broke the tape in the 4x400-meter relay (3:28.51).
