Packard Pockets Pair, Six More Honored as USTFCCCA Doles Out All-Region Accolades

New Orleans, LA --- Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) earned a pair of U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-New England honors while six others were also recognized for their performance during the indoor track & field season.

Packard led New England in the 800-meter run and was fifth in the mile. The All-America, and top placer from the region, in the 800m at last year's outdoor championships will focus on the shorter race this weekend at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Junior Ryan Wittenberg (Bedford, NH), who will also be making the trip to the national meet, was third out of four New England runners that occupy the top five spots nationally.

Freshman Matt Adiletta (Bolton, MA) was in a three-way tie for fifth, along with competitors from Bowdoin and Tufts, in the 60-meter dash. Classmate Oliver Thomas (Goffstown, NH) tied for the top spot in the 60-meter hurdles while sophomore Fabian Gaziano (Wilbraham, MA) was third. Junior Antoine Harris (Southington, CT) was third in the 200-meter dash and senior Warren Staver (Centreville, MD) was fourth in the 400-meter dash.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relays teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West – match those used during the cross country season.

Wittenberg and Packard, along with the rest of the distance medley relay team, as well as senior Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) will be in the national spotlight Friday.
