New Orleans, LA --- Paced by sophomore Alex Rus (Newton, MA), three individuals and two relays garnered U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region accolades for finishing the outdoor track & field season in the top five of their respective events.
Rus clocked the third-ranked 400-meter dash in a title performance at the NEWMAC Championships. He was also part of the relay teams that handed in school-record times at the MIT Last Chance Qualifier. The NCAA-bound 4x400m consisting of Rus, senior Paul-Henry Schoenhagen (Cleveland Heights, OH), sophomore Nick Fleury (Hopkinton, NH) and senior Warren Staver (Centreville, MD) handed in a New England best 3:13.69 while the 4x100m of Fleury, junior Antoine Harris (Southington, CT), Rus and sophomore William Kopellas (Needham, MA) ended the season ranked third with a time of 41.61. Staver was also recognized in the 400m with the fifth-ranked time of 48.38 that achieved at the All-New England Championships.
Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) led New England wire-to-wire in the 800-meter run. The NEWMAC champion in the 800m and 1,500m, and Division III New England champion in the shorter race, initially led the nation with a 2:09.34 at the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Invitational and later posted a 2:09.27 at the All-New England Championships. The sophomore's 1,500m time of 4:31.08 at the NEWMAC Championships was ranked third in the region.
