Medford and Boston, MA --- WPI women's track & field senior Carley Dykstra (Andover, NJ) shined at Tufts' Branwen Smith-King Invitational on Saturday while junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) made her 2019 debut in the 800-meter run at the non-scoring BU John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday.
Division II Stonehill captured the team title at Tufts with 157 points. The hosts followed with 130 as Amherst was third (97), No. 4 MIT was fourth (88) and No. 16 WPI was fifth (58).
Dykstra won the pole vault with a height of 11-9.75, which is 14th on the NCAA Division III performance list while Packard clocked the No. 3 time in the country with a 2:12.56. Bates senior Ayden Eickhoff (Corvallis, MT), who was one spot behind Packard at last year's NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, led the DIII contingent with a 2:11.97. The race also produced the fourth, fifth and sixth ranked times on the DIII leaderboard.
Freshman Bridget Wirtz (Branford, CT) was fourth in the pole vault with a Division III New England qualifying, and personal-best, 10-44.75. Trailing Packard was freshman Ciara Young (Milton, MA) with a 2:20.53, which was 46th heading into Saturday's action, and sophomore Lauren Kaija (Reading, VT) with a 2:21.55. Hours later, junior Ari Rozen (Carver, MA) handed in a PR of 10:41.20 in the 3,000-meter run at BU.
Sophomore Keely Nistler (Vadnais Heights, MN) was second in the 1,000-meter run at Tufts with a 3:06.03 as graduate student Emily Newman (Easton, MA) and junior Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA) were sixth (3:11.52) and seventh (3:13.18). Both Nistler and Newman qualified for the Division III New England Championships.
The 600-meter run featured senior Katie Nugent (Huntington Station, NY) in third (1:42.48) and sophomore Madison Perry (Biddeford, ME) in fourth (1:45.18). Freshman Emma Hartzel (Littleton, MA) was .35 off of eighth with a time of 1:47.46. Sophomore Arden Tanner (Ventura, CA) and senior Michelle Gencorelli (Andover, MA) were 3-4 in the 200-meter dash with times of 27.26 and 27.47, respectively.
Senior Xandria Korn (Woodinville, WA) and junior Faye Gauthier (West Warwick, RI) were sixth in the high jump (5-1) and weight throw (45-5.75) with both performances qualifying for the Division III New England meet. Freshman Janelle Knight (Santa Barbara, CA), sophomore Katy Nippert (Salem, NH), Tanner and Gencorelli got WPI on the board with a seventh-place 1:51.37 in the 4x200-meter relay.
