Boston, MA --- Senior Carley Dykstra (Andover, NJ) won the pole vault with a school-record clearance of 12-6 as the WPI women's track & field team competed Friday at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational.

Dykstra initially bested the previous standard of 11-11.75 with a height of 12 feet. Four minutes later, the senior literally and figuratively raised the bar six more inches to win the event. In addition to finishing ahead of a trio from Division I Connecticut, Dykstra moved from 22nd to fourth on the NCAA Division III leaderboard as of Friday night. Freshman Bridget Wirtz (Branford, CT), meanwhile, recorded a height of 11-0.25.

Junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) moved back into third on the NCAA list with a 2:10.52 in the 800-meter run while freshman Janelle Knight (Santa Barbara, CA) ended the evening tied for 19th in the 200-meter dash.
