Eight Set to Compete at NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships

Indianapolis, IN --- Three men and three women, as well as a men's relay, from the WPI Track & Field program have been invited to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, hosted by UMass Boston at the Reggie Lewis Center on March 8-9.

Senior Ryan Wittenberg (Bedford, NH), who is making a repeat appearance, is the top seed in the 800-meter run (1:49.89) while sophomore Oliver Thomas (Goffstown, NH) is fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (8.08) and senior Antoine Harris (Southington, CT) is seventh in the 200-meter dash (21.58). Junior Alex Rus (Newton, MA), Harris, Wittenberg and sophomore Ben Steeves (Hollis, ME) enter the competition ninth in the 4x400-meter relay (3:16.30).

Junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) is making her third consecutive appearance at the indoor meet, this time with a third-ranked 2:10.52 in the 800-meter run. She will be joined by senior Carley Dykstra (Andover, NJ) who is eighth in the pole vault (12-6.25) and Katy Nippert (Salem, NH) who is 15th in the long jump (18-6.5).

The 200 and both 800 times were clocked at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational while the pole vault and long jump marks were achieved at the Springfield Invitational. The 60mH time was recorded at the Division III New England Championships and the relay posted their entry time on Saturday at the Tufts Final Qualifier.
