Westwood, MA --- WPI senior Xandria Korn (Woodinville, WA) and sophomore Johann Bradley (Slidell, LA) have been selected as NEWMAC Field Athletes of the Week while the men's 4x100m has been tabbed as the NEWMAC Relay of the Week.
Korn, who shared the accolade with Springfield freshman Chloe Dewhurst (Lancaster, MA), cleared 5-5 in the high jump at the Williams Invitational to finish the weekend tied for 13th on the NCAA performance list and tied with the aforementioned Dewhurst for the top spot on the NEWMAC performance list.
Bradley improved on his previous Division III New England qualifying performances with a PR of 15-5 in the pole vault. The performance also ranks second on the NEWMAC leaderboard and is tied for 22nd in the nation.
The quartet of sophomore Matt Adiletta (Bolton, MA), junior Alex Rus (Newton, MA), junior William Kopellas (Needham, MA) and senior Antoine Harris (Southington, CT) defeated Middlebury (42.42) in a head-to-head matchup with a 41.73. The time is ranked 18th on the NCAA Division III performance list and No. 1 on the NEWMAC performance list. It is the third time the Engineers have been recognized in the event this season, and the first for this particular configuration.
MIT senior Aidan Gilson (Florence, MA) was honored as the NEWMAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week while MIT junior Jenna Melanson (Woodland, WA) was the NEWMAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Babson's 4x400m earned the NEWMAC Women's Relay of the Week nod.
The Engineers head to Springfield for the 2019 NEWMAC Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
