No. 19 MIT won its 11th consecutive title and 12th overall with 182.5 points. New England No. 12 Springfield was second (152.16), followed by New England No. 10 Coast Guard (114) and New England No. 11 WPI (83.33). Wheaton completed the top five with 81.5 points. Smith (47.5), Mount Holyoke (47), Wellesley (44) and Babson (28) were sixth through ninth.
Gencorelli posted a 26.26 to earn the lone title for the Engineers. Senior Xandria Korn (Woodinville, WA) finished in a three-way tie for second in the high jump with a clearance of 5-3. Freshman Bridget Wirtz (Branford, CT) earned silver in the pole vault (11-1.75) while sophomore Kelley Townley (Syracuse, NY) was seventh (10-2).
Junior Faye Gauthier (West Warwick, RI) took third in the hammer with a heave of 145-8 as freshman Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA) was third in the long jump with a leap of 17-4.25. Sophomore Elizabeth Kirschner (South Hamilton, MA) followed with a 17-1.5, which was good for sixth.
The 4x100-meter relay comprised of sophomore Arden Tanner (Ventura, CA), Pawlak, Gencorelli and freshman Janelle Knight (Santa Barbara, CA) also secured bronze. Their 49.91 was .23 shy of second place and just .01 ahead of fourth-place MIT. Tanner was the lone member to also earn credit for a runner up finish a year ago.
Senior Katie Nugent (Huntington Station, NY) posted a fourth-place time of 1:00.83 in the 400-meter dash to go with a fourth-place 11:32.30 by sophomore Keely Nistler (Vadnais Heights, MN) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Senior Steffany Halfrey (Hubbardston, MA) added a seventh-place time of 12:00.35.
Pawlak also placed seventh in the 100-meter dash (12.88) while Tanner was .02 shy of an invite to the finals. Junior Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA) handed in a 5:01.01 to claim fifth in the 1,500-meter run. Gencorelli, Nugent, freshman Emma Hartzel (Littleton, MA) and junior Seneca Warren (New York, NY) collaborated for a fifth-place 4:15.55. Nugent was a member of the 2016 and 2017 championship relays.
Pawlak and Kirschner were fifth (35-5.25) and sixth (35-0.5) in the triple jump while freshman Victoria Carreiro (Westerly, RI) and Kirschner were sixth (112-3) and seventh (97-8) in the javelin. Sophomore Lauren Herchenroder (Plaistow. NH) was eighth in the shot put (32-6.5) and Hartzel was eighth in the 800-meter run (2:27.81).
Eligible members of the team will compete at the New England Division III Championships Friday and Saturday at Williams.
