Packard Repeats as Google Cloud Women’s T&F/XC Academic All-District®

WORCESTER – WPI junior Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) repeated as a Google Cloud Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team Academic All-District® I selection, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. She is now under consideration for Academic All-America honors.

The 2019 indoor All-America and Division III New England 800m indoor champion also boasts All-NE accolades in the 4x800m (twice), 600m and mile. Packard claimed the 2018 NEWMAC 800m and 1500m titles, and was a member of the 2017 4x400m relay. The outdoor season also features two individual and two relay All-D3NE performances, including the 2018 800m title, and a pair of All-NEICAAA nods in the 800m. On the cross country course, Packard is a two-time All-NEWMAC first team honoree and a 2017 All-Division III New England performer. Packard is also a member of the Greenhouse and Horticultural Club.

The chemical engineering major and her IQP group recently returned from India after exploring the feasibility of improving sanitation along trekking routes in Himachal Pradesh. Prior to missing the 2019 outdoor season due to the opportunity, Packard was invited to all five NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships and earned four All-America honors in the 800-meter run, including a third-place finish at the indoor championships in 2018. Packard ranked 10th on the DIII indoor 800m all-time list for 364 days as a result.
