Biney Boasts NEWMAC, NEWBA and Team of the Week Laurels

Westwood, MA --- WPI senior Ama Biney (Worcester, MA) has been named as the NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week, New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Player of the Week and has earned a spot on the Team of the Week.

Biney averaged 21 points, nine rebounds 4.7 assists and 4.3 steals per game while notching two double-doubles in a 2-1 week (the loss being in OT on the road at MIT, in which she played 42 minutes). The offensive nominee boasted 20 points, six boards and five assists versus Clark and narrowly missed her career-high with 27 points, 10 rebounds and four assists against Coast Guard. In Saturday's OT setback at MIT, Biney netted 16 points, 11 boards and five assists. The local product totaled 14 assists and 13 steals while limiting her turnovers to four in three games. Biney shot 55% from the field and led the team in nearly every statistical category in all three games.

The guard was named to the NEWBA honor roll, the last time she was feted by all three organizations, for the week ending December 4, 2016.
