Boston, MA --- WPI Hall of Famer Dave Wilson was honored recently with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Boston Chapter of the Wrestlers in Business Network. Wilson was honored on Saturday, October 21st at the group's annual awards banquet held at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge.
Wilson, a 1980 graduate and 1989 WPI Hall of Fame inductee, competed in every national Division III championship during his career on Boynton Hill. He gained national recognition as a senior, as he became WPI's first Division III Wrestling All-American with a third-place finish in the national meet. Wilson earned the All-American recognition with a thrilling pin in the quarterfinals.
The talented lightweight competed in the 118 and 126-pound classes and, at the time of graduation, had the best dual meet record (58-3), most pins (29) and was the top team-point scorer in the history of WPI wrestling.
Wilson is in an international speaker and industry expert in Engineering Document Management and CAD Conversion. The Scottsdale, Arizona resident has built over 50 solutions to capture and data mine scanned and electronic documents and data and has started two self-funded companies, selling the first to an international company.
He has had consulting projects with IBM, Xerox, Fujitsu, Kodak, Henry Schein, OCE, Nuance and many others and is a board member for Underground GIS and Uviva. Wilson's latest company venture is into a cloud and mobile Healthcare data visualization system. This is deployed to over 400 US hospitals to help reduce Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI's).
Wilson has stayed involved with wrestling as high school official in Arizona and he is a volunteer Mountain Bike Steward in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, the largest City park in the US. Dave and his wife Cathy, also a WPI grad, have two children, who both live in Los Angeles.
Wrestlers in Business is a non-profit organization that strives to unite the thousands of wrestlers that have retired from the sport and are now in their respective careers. It started as a networking group on LinkedIn. Since then, the group has evolved into a more prominent, member-focused organization that cares about supporting current & former wrestlers and the sport. The Boston Chapter's mission statement is to help uplevel the sport of wrestling in the Boston area while creating a community of wrestlers who help each other in business and in life.
The event featured wrestling legend Dan Gable. Other honorees included Jose Valenzuela of Williams College, Billy Waterson of Brown, Andy Mcnerney of Harvard and Carl Adams of Boston University.
