WORCESTER -- WPI freshman Adam Marsh (Upper Black Eddy, PA) has been selected as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 9th.
Marsh won both of his matches Saturday versus NYU and Bridgewater State at a quad meet at Coast Guard. The rookie 184-pounder was one of only two Engineers to post a victory over the ninth-ranked Violets picking up a hard-earned 4-3 decision. Marsh followed that up notching a first period pin against the Bears. Adam and his older brother Tyler were a perfect 4-0 on the day.
Adam Marsh is currently 9-9 on the season with four pins. It marks the first time an Engineer grappler has earned NEWA Rookie of the Week accolades since current junior Brendan Marion (Norristown, MA) has honored twice as a freshman in 2017-18. The award is the third weekly honor captured by a Crimson and Gray wrestler this season as Tyler Marsh picked up Wrestler of the Week on November 27th and January 29th.
WPI wraps up the dual meet season next weekend, venturing to Springfield for a 7pm matchup on Saturday and entertaining Western New England on Sunday at 2pm in its annual Spotlight Match in Harrington Auditorium.
