Springfield, MA --- The Springfield wrestling team raced out to a 16-0 lead and earned a 27-12 victory over WPI on Saturday night under a spotlight in Blake Arena.

WPI got on the board at 157 thanks to a 7-2 decision by Chase Lind (Fairfield, CT) and Tyler Marsh (Upper Black Eddy, PA), the top-ranked wrestler in the region at 165 pounds, prevailed 7-6 thanks to riding time.  The visitors continued their comeback as Brendan Marion (Norristown, PA) earned an 8-5 decision at 174 and Adam Marsh (Upper Black Eddy, PA) held on for a 4-1 win at 184 to make it a 16-12 contest.

However, Sam Ware (Oakham, MA) turned his opponent late in the first period for a pinfall in 2:11 to clinch the match at 197 for the Pride, and Joseph Fusco (Billerica, MA) followed with an 18-2 technical fall at 285 to conclude the evening's bouts.

The Engineers are right back at it on Sunday, hosting Western New England on Senior Day at 2pm.  The event is the team's annual "Spotlight Match" in Harrington Auditorium.
