Saratoga Springs, NY --- The WPI Women's Rowing team wrapped up is fall campaign Saturday at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, NY.
The varsity eight comprised of Liz Audet (Terryville, CT), Elisabeth Boulanger (Grafton, MA), SaraBeth Leach (Fairfax Station, VA), Emily Hofmeister (Mission Hills, KS), Arianna Niro (Milford, MA), Olivia Durand (East Freetown, MA), Anisa Swei (Brookline, MA), Corre Steele (Manchester, NH) and coxswain Nicole Quintal (Colchester, VT) rowed to a 12th place performance with a time 14:17.16.
The second varsity eight consisting of Brianna Gillespie (Charlton, MA), Rachael Matty (Pomfret, CT), Sarah Smith (San Jose, CA), Kristin Olson (San Diego, CA), Alexa Hiznay (Trumbull, CT), Christina Bottom (Auburn, MA), Lea Dighello (Wallingford, CT), Nikki Mikolajczak (Virginia Beach, VA) and coxswain Hallie Kenyon (East Amherst, NY) turned in a ninth place showing in a time of 15:08.01.
The novices continued to enjoy a strong fall. The boat manned by Mikolajczak, Victoria Loehle (Morganville, NJ), Zulean Cruz-Diaz (Pharr, TX), Bottom, Rachel Brown (Melrose, MA), Audrey Allen (Topsfield, MA), Sarah Bucknam (Johnston, RI), Huda Gad (Cairo, Egypt) and coxswain Quintal finished fifth (15:08.02) while the boat made up of Julia Pershken (Albion, ME), Ying Lu (Guangzhou, China), Jennifer Quigley (Kingston, NY), Jennifer Golden (Norton, MA), Paige Salerno (Avon, CT), Carolina Leguizamon (La Paz, Bolivia), Tori Patterson (Medford, NJ), Kelley Slabinski (Plainville, CT) and coxswain Kenyon placed 14th (16:53.74).
As tradition, the eights broke into several smaller boats and several fours, doubles and singles registered strong performances on the day. Also, the Engineers struck gold in the mixed eight with the men.
Saturday's action marked the end of the fall season for WPI crew. The Engineers will return to the water in early April for the spring portion of their season.
