Henley-on-Thames, England --- WPI wrapped up competition at the 30th Henley Women's Regatta early Saturday morning.
The Varsity Eight was two lengths behind Newcastle University in the GP Jeffries Memorial Trophy Senior Eights quarterfinals. The semifinals featured two crews from Massachusetts with Radcliffe (Harvard) facing Newcastle and Northeastern, who easily defeated St. Joseph's University, taking on Molesley BC.
Friday morning featured the 1,300-meter head style time trials for the Senior Coxless Four. The top 16 teams out of 21 entries were eligible to contest the Frank V Harry Cup. Despite being the Engineers first time entering the event, the crew steered a straight course and enjoyed arguably their best row to date.
On the previous Sunday, the Varsity Eight advanced thanks to a scratch by Radcliffe and a one-length victory over Kingston Rowing Club at the Reading Amateur Regatta. The crew was then upended by a canvas in the final by St. Paul's (USA). The four, meanwhile, was three lengths behind Galway RC in the lone 4- of the event.
