WORCESTER – Wellesley sophomore Deyanira Ibarra (Los Olivos, CA) provided the only goal in a 1-0 double overtime win at WPI in a NEWMAC Women's Soccer match Saturday morning in Alumni Stadium.

The Blue improves to 6-8-2 and 5-4 in league action and the Engineers move to 10-5-1 and 4-3-1.

Ibarra broke away from a defender and shot from the bottom left from the top of the box at 107:33.  The forward was one of four different Blue student-athletes to register a shot on-goal in the match.

Sophomore Olivia Reckley (Grosse Ile, MI) stopped seven shots, including one in each extra session. Junior Gabriela Hoops (Stonington, CT) halted three for the Engineers.

WPI, who had the 16-12 edge in shots and were awarded five of eight corner kicks,  applied pressure late in regulation and had a great chance in the 87th minute as senior Karina Larson's (Storrs, CT) free kick made it through the wall only to be blocked. Wellesley senior Zoe Matticks (Minneapolis, MN) nearly ended the game in the first OT but the ball caromed off the left post.

The Engineers, who are on the road for the final two regular season games, heads to MIT Tuesday for a 4pm match. Wellesley concludes its regular season 3:30pm Tuesday at Babson.
