Kansas City, MO --- WPI junior midfielder Kristen McCrea (Weymouth, MA) has garnered All-New England accolades from the United Soccer Coaches for the third time in as many seasons. McCrea was named to the first team in 2016 and 2018.
The 2016 NEWMAC Rookie of the Year also collected her third All-NEWMAC first team nod in as many campaigns. The co-captain was the team's leader with 25 points and was tied with Leah Beauton with a team-best 10 goals on the year, of which three were game-winners against Salem State, Framingham State and Mount Holyoke. McCrea also turned in a hat-trick versus city rival Worcester State. McCrea also earned Academic All-NEWMAC laurels for the second year in-a-row.
Overall, the conference boasted nine student-athletes representing five institutions. McCrea was joined by MIT's Hailey Nichols (Boulder, CO) and Sophia Struckman (Scottsdale, AZ), and Springfield's Kaleigh Dale (Mansfield, CT) and Sara Swetland (Manchester, NH).
Women's Soccer began the season 5-0 and went 6-0-2 toward the end of the season for an overall mark of 11-6-2 and a conference ledger of 5-3-2. The Engineers met or exceeded 10 wins each of the past four seasons, and five of the last six, for head coach Steph Riley-Schafer.
