Women's Soccer's McCrea Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year Award
June 30, 2020Westwood, MA --- WPI’s Kristen McCrea is one of ten women to have been nominated by their institutions to represent the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) as its NCAA Woman of the Year nominee. The conference Athletic Directors will select the NEWMAC representative(s), which will be announced in July. The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors student-athletes based on academics, athletics, service and leadership. -

Today we feature Sofia Orrico from Women's Soccer. Sofia is a junior from Bethel, CT. She is majoring in biomedical engineering. -
McCrea Notches Second Straight United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region Award
December 18, 2019WORCESTER --- WPI senior Kristen McCrea has become the first player in program history to capture consecutive United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region selections. The midfielder was named a second team midfielder for the second consecutive season after Kristen Garza (2009) and Emily Doherty (2016) has been honored previously. -
St. Germain Earns CoSIDA Division III Women's Soccer Academic All-America Distinction
December 04, 2019WORCESTER --- Senior goalkeeper Mandy St. Germain has been selected to the Division III Women's Soccer Academic All-America first team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The senior joins Lynn Woroby '08, Hailey Taylor '12 and Emily Doherty ’16 as the fourth from women’s soccer to become an Academic All-America and the only one to earn first team accolades. -
McCrea Adds Fourth United Soccer Coaches All-New England Accolade to Resume
December 03, 2019WORCESTER --- WPI senior Kristen McCrea (Weymouth, MA) was selected as a United Soccer Coaches All-New England second team honoree. It is the fourth consecutive year that McCrea has earned All-New England recognition, as the midfielder was a first team pick in 2016 and 2018 and a second team award recipient in 2017 and 2019. -
Women’s Soccer’s McCrea and St. Germain Selected to NEWISA Senior Bowl at Merrimack
December 01, 2019WORCESTER -- WPI midfielder Kristen McCrea and goalkeeper Mandy St. Germain has been chosen to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, which is scheduled for a noon kickoff on Saturday, December 7th at Merrimack College. -
Seven Named to NEWMAC's Fall All-Sportsmanship Teams
November 27, 2019Westwood, MA --- The NEWMAC has announced the Fall 2019 All-Sportsmanship team. Logan Gaudette, Jill Comeau, Jivan Purutyan, Abbie Gilbert, Hannah Larochelle and Steve Meyhave been named to their respective NEWMAC All-Sportsmanship teams. Rookie Lora Dufresne from women’s cross-country was also honored. -
79 WPI Fall Student-Athletes Pick Up NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Honors
November 26, 2019Westwood, MA --- WPI placed 79 fall student-athletes on their respective NEWMAC Academic All-Conference teams. Football led the way with 21 selections while women’s soccer boasted 15 and men’s soccer placed ten. Volleyball had seven honorees while field hockey had eight. Women's Cross Country broke its program record by placing ten while men’s cross country saw eight earn accolades. -
McCrea, Beauton and Keck from Women's Soccer Recognized as All-NEWMAC
November 13, 2019Westwood, MA --- Kristin McCrea became WPI’s first women’s soccer player to be selected first team all-conference as the NEWMAC revealed is post season honorees on Wednesday afternoon. McCrea was joined on the first team by Leah Beauton while Annika Keck drew second team praise and senior Jill Comeau was the Crimson and Gray’s representative on the conference’s All-Sportsmanship Team. -
McCrea, St. Germain and Hirshfeld Named Women's Soccer Academic All-District
November 12, 2019WORCESTER -- WPI seniors Kristen McCrea and Mandy St. Germain and junior Jenna Hirshfeld have been named to the Women's Soccer Academic All-District I team, as voted upon by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members from Massachusetts and Maine. The trio now advancers to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. -
St. Germain Makes 10 Saves for Women's Soccer in NEWMAC Title Game at No. 5 MIT
November 09, 2019Cambridge, MA --- The WPI women’s soccer team saw its impressive run in the 2019 NEWMAC Tournament come to an end Saturday evening with a 3-0 loss to nationally-ranked MIT. The Crimson and Gray had advanced to the title match with 4-0 victories earlier in the week at home versus Wheaton and Babson. -

October 15, 2019WORCESTER – Leah Beauton (Colchester, CT) used her ninth and 10th goals of the season to lift WPI past visiting Fitchburg State, 2-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer contest Tuesday afternoon in Alumni Stadium. Despite yielding the pair of tallies, Falcon goalkeeper Sarah Hemmings (Eastham, MA) tied her career-high for saves with 21 on the day. -

Poly Club Inducts Six into WPI Athletics Hall of Fame; Vassallo Earns Harrington Award
October 07, 2019The WPI Athletic Department, Poly Club, and Hall of Fame Selection Committee is proud to announce its 37th Class, the Class of 2019. The six newest members were inducted on Friday, October 4th as part of Homecoming Weekend. The inductees include: John Bibinski '84 (Football), Kristen (Garza) Reader '11 (Women's Soccer), Steve Graveline '87 (Wrestling), Don Maki '80 (Baseball), Larry Noble (Men's Rowing Coach) and Jason Steele (Women's Rowing Coach). To kick off the evening, Helen Vassallo was recognized as the Frank C. Harrington (1898) Award recipient. -

WPI Nets United Soccer Coaches College Women’s Team Academic Award
October 03, 2019Kansas City, MO --- The WPI women’s soccer program has earned the United Soccer Coaches College Team Academic Award for the second consecutive year. College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year. -
