Worcester, MA -- Lauren Kaija (Reading, VT) and Kristen McCrea (Weymouth, MA) netted goals and Mandy St. Germain (Worcester, MA) made two saves to lift WPI past host Worcester State 2-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match played Tuesday evening between the city rivals.

WPI, who has not allowed a goal yet this season, moves to 2-0 on the season while the Lancers slip to 0-1-1 overall.

The two teams battled defensively during the beginning of the first half. In the 37th minute, Kaija put the Engineers on the board when she took a pass from Lilly Proulx (New Boston, NH) and sailed a shot into the back of the net.

After the half, WPI sealed the win early on with a goal from McCrea when she sailed past the Lancer defense and scored unassisted in the 54th minute.

St. Germain collected her second straight shutout.  The senior has not allowed a goal in 180 minutes of work in 2019.

On the night WPI enjoyed a 19-6 bulge in shots and held a slight 3-2 edge in corner kicks.

A busy weekend awaits the Crimson and Gray as WPI heads to Framingham State for 11am match Saturday before hosting Trinity in its home opener on Sunday at 1pm.
