Women’s Soccer’s McCrea and St. Germain Selected to NEWISA Senior Bowl at Merrimack

WORCESTER -- WPI midfielder Kristen McCrea (Weymouth, MA) and goalkeeper Mandy St. Germain (Upton, CT) has been chosen to play in the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, which is scheduled for a noon kickoff on Saturday, December 7th at Merrimack College.

McCrea capped an outstanding career by leading the team with 29 points and sharing team-high honors with 13 goals despite missing the final three games due to injury.  The midfielder joins recent Hall of Fame inductee Kristen Garza as the only player in program history to earn All-NEWMAC four times and the first to be first-team all four years.  A three-time All-New England selection was an All-America as a freshman in 2016, McCrea finished her outstanding career with 37 goals and 98 points, both second in school history.  Just last month, the senior selected to the CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-District I team for the second time.

St. Germain excelled in her first full-time season in net for the 16-5-1 Engineers.  The senior allowed just 16 goals in 21 matches, posting a microscopic 0.77 GAA in between the pipes for the Crimson and Gray.  St. Germain reached double digits in saves three times this past season, all against nationally ranked teams (10 at Tufts and 10 and 11 at MIT).  In the classroom the biomedical engineering major sports a perfect 4.00 GPA.  She completed her IQP project - "A New Direction for ESF: Holistic Transition to Retirement Program" - in Australia and was also a CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-District I team selection this fall.

It marks the first time sixth-year head coach Steph Riley-Schafer had had a pair of players selected to play and McCrea and St. Germain join Dabriela Hoops, Sophie Gomarlo and Emily Doherty to be tabbed to play in the last five years.
