WORCESTER --- WPI senior Kristen McCrea (Weymouth, MA) was selected as a United Soccer Coaches All-New England second team honoree. It is the fourth consecutive year that McCrea has earned All-New England recognition, as the midfielder was a first team pick in 2016 and 2018 and a second team award recipient in 2017 and 2019.
McCrea capped an outstanding career by leading the team with 29 points and sharing team-high honors with 13 goals despite missing the final three games due to injury. The midfielder joins recent Hall of Fame inductee Kristen Garza as the only player in program history to earn All-NEWMAC four times and the first to be first-team all four years.
A four-time All-New England selection who was an All-America as a freshman in 2016, McCrea finished her outstanding career with 37 goals and 98 points, both second in school history. Just last month, the senior selected to the CoSIDA Women's Soccer Academic All-District I team for the second time.
WPI equaled the school records for victories in a season with 16 and reached the NEWMAC Tournament championship game for the second time in four seasons under seven-year head coach Steph Riley-Schafer.
