Waltham, MA --- The Brandeis volleyball team bested WPI in four sets Thursday night, 27-25, 25-20, 17-25, 25-22, in Auerbach Arena.
With the win the Judges improve to 8-6 and the Engineers slip to 6-12.
Junior Shea Decker-Jacoby (Los Angeles, CA) had 14 kills and a team-high 25 digs, while freshman Marissa Borgert (Blaine, MN) had 10 kills and 21 assists for Brandeis. Sophomore Emma Bartlett (Duxbury, MA) had 15 kills on 26 attempts, good for a .462 hitting percentage and a match-high in kills. Junior Marlee Nork (Chicago, IL) had a season-high 30 kills. Junior Yvette Cho (San Diego, CA) had 20 digs. Decker-Jacoby had a season-high six service aces. The Judges hit .190 for the match.
WPI junior Casey Hunt (Granby, CT) logged a double-double of 11 kills and 15 digs while classmate Azita Bakhtyari (Andover, MA) handed out 34 assists and came up with 13 digs. Freshman Sarah Kwatinetz (Seattle, WA) added 10 kills. Junior Victoria Nassar (Salem, NH) totaled 19 digs as senior Ann Kaczowka (Seekonk, MA) also had 15 digs for the Crimson and Gray.
Looking to force a fifth set, WPI had the fourth tied at 21-21 following a kill by Wetmore. Two swipes by Brandeis forced a WPI timeout. Wetmore's swing was successful again; however, a pair of miscues by the visitors ended the match.
The Engineers travel to New Hampshire this Saturday and plays a tri-match against Western Connecticut and Keene State at 2pm and 4pm. Brandeis plays its final home matches of the year this Saturday during Homecoming. The Judges take on Gordon at noon and UMass-Dartmouth at 2pm.
