Northampton, MA --- Trinity won the final two sets in a 3-2 (13-25, 25-16, 24-26, 25-23, 15-10) victory over WPI Friday night in Smith's Scott Gym as part of the Hall of Fame Volleyball Invitational.
Mullins hit at impressive .292 clip, making just two errors in 48 attempts, and added 11 digs to complete her double-double. Casey Hunt (Granby, MA) made it four Engineers in double figures in digs with 14. WPI blocked well on the night as Amanda Wetmore (Hudson, NH) and Bakhtyari both talled six block assists and Sarah Kwatinetz (Seattle, WA) tossed in two solo blocks and a pair of block assists.
As a team the Crimson and Gray hit .176 on the night, with strong showings in the first (9/1/31 - .258%), fourth (14/4/33 - .303) and fifth sets (7-3-13- .308).
Junior Colette Scheffers (Flossmoor, IL) paced the way offensively for Trinity with 21 kills while senior co-captain Rachel Underwood (Danville, CA) posted 14 kills and three service aces. Fellow senior co-captain Hanna Engstrom (Hopkinton, MA) also finished in double-digit kills with ten, while sophomore setter Jessica Yang (Pacific Palisades, CA) led the team with five service aces. Junior Wyllie Boughton (Andover, MA) added five kills to go along with four block assists and a pair of aces herself.
The Engineers (19-5), who are ninth in the initial NCAA Division III Regional Rankings, take on Hamilton (at Amherst) at 9am and the co-host Mammoths at 11am. The Bantams (12-7) return to Scott Gym for a 1pm meeting with Brandeis and a 3pm matchup with Wheaton.
