Wenham, MA --- Colleen Mullins (Andover, MA), Abbie Gilbert (Hopkinton, MA) and Suela Miloshi (Needham, MA) all reached double digits in kills as the WPI volleyball team rallied from an early deficit to defeat host Gordon 3-1 in a non-conference match-up Wednesday evening. The Engineers took the match by set scores of 28-30, 25-15, 25-19, 25-13.
The Crimson and Gray are now 2-1 overall while the Fighting Scots see their record even at 2-2 on the season.
WPI found itself down 4-0 to open the match and only took its first lead in the opening set at 21-20 before finally falling in a marathon first stanza. After that, the guests used quick starts in each of the remaining sets and never trailed the rest of the match.
Gilbert hit an outstanding .400 with 12 kills and just two errors on 25 attempts while Mullins hit at a .375 clips with a game-best 13 kills and one error on 32 tries. Miloshi crushed her career-high in kills with 10 spikes.
Catherine Reynolds (Concord, NH) stuffed the stat sheets for Engineers, doling out a game-high 39 assists and a team bests 13 digs to go along with four block assists and three service aces. Mullins also double-doubled with 13 digs while Sarah Kwatinetz (Seattle, WA) added eight kills and six block assists and Kayleigh Campbell (Wilbraham, MA) totaled 11 digs.
Jordan Shaduk (Towson, MD) led Gordon with 10 digs and Ashlyn Gergins (Murrieta, CA) posted a double-double of her own with 29 assists and 11 digs.
WPI is at Southern Maine Saturday for a tri-match with the host Huskies (Noon) and Maine Maritime (2pm). Gordon heads to Western Mass, for a tri-match at Elms with UMass Dartmouth beginning at noon.
